It's done! I really, really like this one
I'm sorry though; I can't find my good camera. This is just a cell phone pic, but I'll try to get a better picture sometime soon. Y'know, it's funny. The quality of the cell phone pictures are always lower than scans, but they get the overall values so much better than the scanner does!
The title refers to the ending song in Funny Face
It's just so...*sigh.* Cherish it in all its cheesy, romantic, fairy-tale like glory! [link]
The thing that I like about this drawing is it's not nearly perfect or anything. Like, the board it's drawn on is a year older than the drawing, and had an outline of a previous drawing on it for the longest time...Parts of it still show, but the cell phone pic doesn't show that. I cut the board out when I wasn't very good at it, so there's parts that are really cut up and uneven at the edges. There are little stains on it. And with the actual drawing itself! The skin is so blotchy in places
I did the first two WIPs about two months ago, and got bored with it. So I kinda stopped...But it's Spring Break, and I just have nothing to do! I decided to pick this up again, and I am glad I did
The changes that I've made to this since the last WIP (besides the neck and ear) are really small. I've basically just went over everything and tried to refine it all.
Also, when I first started drawing this, I followed the reference pretty faithfully. But when I revisited it, I decided to throw that out the door and kind of shade it the way I want. SO...the shading, among some other parts, are not exactly like the reference, intentionally. I'm slowly trying to push myself away from attempting photorealism. I mean, what a pointless goal. I'm branching off and adding a bit more of me in my art
You know what I want my art to be like? I want it to be the kind that just commands your attention, that seems to just pierce into you. It's really hard to portray that at the same time as this gentle softness and romanticism, but that's what I was aiming for with this one. So that's why I strayed from the reference
This was drawn with a mech. pencil, graphite pencils (9B-2B), kneaded (which I need more of) and regular erasers, all on mat board, which is antique tinted. Although you can't tell at all, from this photo. It's 18x16 inches. I believe I started this around mid January, but it was extremely on and off...So I can't really say how many hours I've worked on this total.

EDIT: Apparently the 'advanced critique encouraged' thing is gone, and in replacement there's some critique function for subscribers?...Lame :/ Didn't need to take it away, but anyway! I would really, really love advanced critique!
I'm still able to fix this one (except for really big changes)
EDIT (again) : This is hanging in a gallery! Exciting!!
