Frozen Ponies..in sculpey

Yeah, that drawing I had done months ago, of Anna and Elsa as ponies...I spent an obsessive amount of time trying to color that digitally. I never could do it in a way I was happy with. But I guess I just had that image haunting my mind, so I wanted to recreate it in clay...I sculpted them and painted Elsa about two months ago, and finally got around to painting Anna yesterday

This was my first time boiling the clay to harden it, obviously I had trouble with it cracking and breaking...I didn't make an armature for Elsa, so she had lost all of her legs at least four times each. She even took a fall and had all of her limbs - horn included - break off at once. Yeah, haha. 

We had also tried priming Elsa with a spray-on primer, which turned out being the worst idea ever. Even after being painted and sealed, she's tacky and sticky, and if you hold her too much her paint will gum up on you. Which made painting her absolutely fun...Her base coat was also spray on as well, so there wasn't any way to go back to that if I messed up later in the process. I did a paint-on primer and base coat on Anna instead, and...wow, painting her was so, so, so much nicer. Now I know for next time, haha.

I definitely learned a LOT through doing these two, so I am excited for future projects

I am just in the middle of projects and nonsensical art school stuff that I just...really needed this right now. Just do something purely for fun. Crazy notion!
